Going to try not to be too angry about this considering it's not a huge deal and it's kind of in the middle in terms of "does this go on a long-form blog or a short-form mastodon post", but let me please just complain for a minute.
There is a feature with some browsers, where you can make an account on their server and sync your tabs between devices. That means, you can open an article on your phone, and open it on the computer later. Imagine being able to continue your research from your computer later!
...Except that it is so unpleasant to send tabs from other devices. Either you have to go all in on a browser, or deal with the manual setup. You could go all Firefox since you use Firefox on PC anyway, but oops, Firefox on iOS does not block ads! Orion browser is not available for Windows yet, still in private alpha! Oops, Brave is part of the Chromium ecosystem and is a waste of time just to continue researching about planes on your computer!
Genuinely, WHY???? Can't we please unify the ecosystem and sync from anything? iOS is the worst device to sync from because of it's browsers being almost all garbage or having limiting syncing systems, so unless you go all in on team Android, and pray tell love Firefox on Android, there's genuinely no fun in syncing. Who wants settle for a browser that you would never WANT to open a tab on? Who wants to settle for ads everywhere on the screen?
All of the workarounds I can think of would require manual effort that I could already put in by searching the damn thing on my computer already, anyway. Installing FireFox anyway would require a manual log-in and to open the tab on Firefox (+1.5 steps), Chrome would require being happy with Chromium + logging in with Google + opening the tabs manually, god knows what Brave will require (+2.5 steps)...
You know how to reduce the steps from two to one? Type the website address on the computer. Saves me extra steps, and does it manually.
I don't want to do it manually, but this is what I have to do, because nobody has invented the bullet yet for iOS. I'm open to any suggestions.
